EYE CATCHERS AT FESTIVAK

At the beginning of October, IFEA Europe participated�at FESTIVAK - the largest expo and trade show in the Benelux for festival and public event professionals. During the expo the following items got our attention:

CREATIVITY AT FESTIVAK

On Tuesday during Festivak, twenty delegates from the Netherlands and Germany participated in a Master Class Creativity by creative consultant Jeroen Mourik.

This part of Festivak was presented by IFEA Europe and was aimed at event managers with a dominant left-brain-hemisphere.

China Now, the UK�s biggest-ever celebration of contemporary Chinese culture, is set to launch in February 2008. The festival will see about 1,000 cultural events happening around the country in the run-up to the Beijing Olympics in July, with Councils around Britain working alongside local Chinese communities organising events in celebration of the Chinese New Year on 7 February. A firework display at London�s O2 centre is planned for early February, followed by China Art Now, a group of major exhibitions of contemporary Chinese art, set to open later in the month.

The Inaugural IFFS Excellence Awards will be presented at the December program and for the first time, will honor and pay tribute to the dedicated professionals and executives managing film festivals. Festivals continue to provide a vital intersection where the major stakeholders in the entertainment industry converge. For decades the tireless work of the film festival professional has made monumental impacts on the industry for individual filmmakers, buyers, sellers, and countless organizations involved in entertainment.

There are three categories each containing two awards.� The categories are for International, National and Regional film festivals, and the two awards presented in each category are the Director Award and Professional Award. A total of six awards will be presented in December. ��

Nominations can be made online at the IFFS website and must be completed in their entirety.� The deadline for entries is October 30th 2007.
