See you in Bratislava!

IFEA Europe’s 2009 conference is set to open in Bratislava, Slovak Republic, on March 18th. Presented by leading industry experts and practitioners, the conference programme seeks to nurture cooperation, professionalism, factual knowledge, and awareness of “best practice” in the industry through an exclusive series of keynote presentations, educational workshop sessions, and round-table discussions.

Throughout the conference, we will explore the themes of HUMAN RITES reflected in festival traditions, the role of regional capitals in VOICE OF SECOND CITIES, the balancing of COMMERCIAL INTERESTS with artistic planning, and CREATIVE VISIONS, reflecting upon the EU’s 2009 creativity theme in regards to festivals. Each of the four educational sessions will view these themes from the standpoint of, respectively, the social role of festivals, the role of the media, educational aspects, and innovation.

In addition to the main program, delegates may choose to participate in one of the pre-conference all-day Master Classes, special cultural and social programmes, and sightseeing tours in Bratislava and its environs.

The conference web site at www.ifeaeurope.com/bratislava is now ready for pre-registration, and early bird delegates’ fees are available till January 31st, 2009.

Against the backdrop of the UNESCO World Heritage waterfront and in the year of European Capital of Culture, BAFA brings its Annual Conference to Liverpool in 2008.

New for 2008, BAFA is programming a specialist parallel strand to the main conference agenda. With sessions that are designed especially for the Chair & Board Members of arts organisations, and covering such governance issues as: best practice and recruitment, special delegate rates are available both to attend this single day and to organisations that bring more than one person to the conference to make attendance a little more feasible.
